Simply, Ganache

Brown and red aren't your everyday perfect combination.  When I had the ganache made, I thought to myself why not add a vibrant color that would stand out against the chocolate brown. When I first told my sister that the cupcakes that I'm currently working on are going to be red and brown she said "What?! Are you sure you want to do that? :-/".

This is my first time working with ganache so I can't say I have much experience, but it was a great experience nonetheless. I was completely awestruck when I saw the chocolate harden up so smoothly, it made the edges stand out much more then regular icing.

If you've been keeping up with my blog, you would have probably noticed by now that in our family we have brunches/get togethers often. Unlike my other entries, this one had a reason. A family friend was in town and what better way to welcome her then to get all of our family and friends together for a brunch. My sister Nada went full out and made a chocolate ginger trifle, and mini strawberry napoleons which were absolutely delicious, and not to mention looked fantastic next to these cupcakes!
